Abilene Community Garden
Abilene, KS
After working for over a year to find adequate space and resources for a community garden in the city of Abilene, the Abilene Community Garden secured a lease with the city for space in Eisenhower Park. Fifteen plots of approximately 20’ x 30’ are available for rent for $25 per plot. The garden is a collaborative effort of the Dickinson County Extension Office (K-State Research & Extension) and the City of Abilene. The group is planning monthly teaching workshops on a variety of subjects from growing techniques to harvesting and preservation of garden crops.
The group plans to use their funds from the Kansas Community Garden Grants for a tiller, tools, and materials for their shed, signage and a food preservation workshop.

Food Preservation workshops were hosted by the Dickinson County Extension Office to help garden participants learn how to safely preserve the harvest from their garden plots.
