Fred Harvey Community Garden
Florence, Kansas

The Fred Harvey Community Garden is located across the street from the Florence Harvey House Museum. The communal garden is dedicated to organic garden production and producing local food. The garden also emulates the gardens of Fred Harvey who established the Harvey Houses along the Santa Fe Railroad in the 1880’s. Mr. Harvey was known for his hospitality and delicious food. The garden is a joint effort of the Florence Historical Society, the Florence PRIDE organization and the City of Florence.

The Fred Harvey Community Garden plans to use funds awarded from the Kansas Community Garden Grant to purchase a storage shed and arbor, irrigation equipment, garden tools, and soil improvements.  To view progress with the Fred Harvey Community Garden, visit their Facebook page and be sure hit 'Like' to follow them at: https://www.facebook.com/pages/Florence-Community-Garden/192799997482701
